Jacob Felländer

Photographer Exploring the World of Drawing, Painting and VR

Featured in the session:

The Role of Art in a Digital Age

Jacob Felländer is known for his large-scale abstract photographs of cityscapes and landscapes, captured from around the world. For the exhibition I Want to Live Closer to You (2011) he travelled around the world’s most densely populated cities, experimenting in capturing the entire world on a single, multi-exposed negative. He later began to investigate the introduction of drawing and painting, as well as exploring the possibilities of virtual reality, shown in the exhibition How to unlock a portal, with which he became the first Swedish artist to be offered a solo show at Museum of contemporary art in Miami. How to unlock a portal covered an artistic travel focusing on how we alternate between the virtual world and the traditional one, and how the digital dimension affects our lives.
