Speaker for Democracy & Power at Gather 2018

Azmat Khan - Gather 2018
How is the democratic society developing and how can politicians gain trust? A lot of people worry about the future of democracy, not least Jan Eliasson who calls himself a “worried optimist”. Jan Eliasson is not only a well-known Swedish and international diplomat, he has also worked as the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, president of the United Nations General Assembly and Swedish Minister for Foreign Affairs. Throughout the years Jan Eliasson has been the mediator in the Iran-Iraq conflict, in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and in Darfur, Sudan. He has also been active for the UN in countries such as Somalia, Mozambique and the Balkans and has a profound interest in water issues, in particular for the developing world. Jan Eliasson is joining Gather in September to talk about the future of power and democracy.
